Gift ideas for Mothers Day

If, like me, you often stuggle to find the perfect gift for your loved ones, I hope this list below might give you some inspiration.  I'm making an real effort to be more sustainable and so I've compiled a list of local experience gifts which are a bit different, a bit fun and a lot local!

1. Photography gift voucher from Georgina Edwards Photography

Would the Mum in your life LOVE a family photo session?  One where she's in the pictures?  Or maybe one with her and the grandchildren?  Gift vouchers are available for session fees or full packages.  She might also love a 30 minute bluebell photography session.  I am running these sessions on Sunday 5th May - find out more here.

2. A Spa Day – Ashdown Park

What Mum wouldn’t LOVE a relaxing day at a spa?  Ashdown Park in Ashdown Forest is the perfect escape from the day to day rollercoaster of working and parenting.  Just 20 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, an oasis of calm and tranquility awaits....

3. Go Ape at Bedgebury Pinetum

This might not be for everyone, but if you like a bit of adventure and you have a head for heights, this is a really fun experience. I was gifted a Go Ape experience for a significant birthday recently, and I LOVED every second of it.  If you know an adventurous Mum, she will love this different and unique experience!

4. Annual Pass to Bedgebury Pinetum

While we’re on the subject of Bedgebury Pinetum, you really can’t go wrong with an annual pass to this fabulous place.  Covering 320 acres of forest, woodland and parkland, there are a wealth of options to please every Mum; from quiet dog walks and gossipy girly jogging sessions, to boystrous days out with the kids and tastey treats in the cafe, I can't imagine a mum - young or old - who wouldn't love an annual membership to Bedgebury.

5. Cheese Making Course - High Weald Dairy

If you have a cheese loving Mum in the family, I’m sure she would be delighted with the chance to spend a day learning about, making, cooking with and eating cheeses at the local High Weald Dairy.  Near Horsted Keynes in West Sussex, she can enjoy a one day course and learn about all things cheesy!

6. Chocolate Making Workshops - Temper Temper

On the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, Temper Temper run both family and adult chocolate making workshops.  At time of posting, they still have space on their workshop actually on Mothers Day (Sunday 31st March).  What a gorgeous, indulgent and yummy way to spend a couple of hours on Mothers Day!

7. Wine Tasting - Kent Wine School

Do I need to say more?!  Well, maybe!  Mum can choose from various courses starting with a simple 2 hour evening course right through to an 8 week World Of Wine programme which will leave her fully qualified to select the right wine for the right occasion.

8. Gift hamper - Simply Sussex Produce

Who wouldn't love a gift hamper stuffed full of yummy, local treats?  Simply Sussex Produce offer trug baskets that you can either fill yourself or are ready made with delicious local produce. And when the Mum in your life has devoured up all the delicious treats inside, she's left with a fab trug basket!  And delivery is free is you’re in the Eastbourne area.

9. A trip down memory lane - Kent and East Sussex Railway

A journey on a steam railway always evokes childlike joy whatever age you are.  KESR offer fabulous experience days like the Mothers Day cream tea experience, fish and chip suppers or real ale evenings. Sounds gorgeous!

10. A day out at a National Trust Site

OK, so this isn’t strictly local in the same sense, but we are lucky in the south east to have a large choice of National Trust sites to choose from.  My family membership is renewed each year and we never tire of visiting Scotney Castle, Sheffield Park, Ightam Mote or Knole Park – to name a few in the local area. Various sites are offering special Mother's Day activities such as a craft day at Batemans or Bodiam.

So that's my Mother's Day Gift Ideas list for 2019.  I hope it's given you some food (and drink!) for thought and maybe you'll be inspired to go local for YOUR Mum this year.
